"Sam Jameson" was an alias used by James T. Kirk following his expulsion from Starfleet in the aftermath of the Talin IV disaster. Under that name, he was hired by Interworld Construction on the construction of a Lagrange colony inside an S-type asteroid. Though he had grown a beard, Jameson was eventually recognized as Kirk after rescuing two young Tellarites from an atmospheric breach. (TOS novel: Prime Directive)
