On Aug.8, 1950, a Tropical Wave turned into Tropical Depression 7 off the coast of southern Mexico. The next day, the NWS in Miami, FL, classified it Tropical Storm 7. On Aug.10, it made landfall in Mexico with 55MPH winds, and central pressure of 979 mbar, killing 32. It then curved out to sea, and weakened back to a Tropical Depression. Despite being forecasted to dissipate the next day, it regained strength, and eventually became a Cat.1, then Cat.2, and after rapid strengthening, it became a Category 4 hurricane off the coast of southern California.
