The White Outdoor Equipment company was formed when White Farm Equipment sold and licensed the rights to the White brand name for lawn and garden and outdoor power equipment to MTD Products. MTD purchased this in 1981 and formed the company at its headquarters in Cleveland, Ohio, USA. White never actually built their own lawn & garden tractors, but had previously purchased them from the Jacobsen Corporation.
