Only he and Oswald Charlton founded the ideology of "Naalstism", a mixture of nationalism and socialism. At the founding of the party, he was initially going to be chairman of the party, and Charlton the secretary (the secretary holds more political power outside of the party, but the chairman holds more inside party influence), however, Oswald Charlton was able to sway the party's delegates to make himself both Secretary and Chairman. A frustrated Wright formed the Naalst Militia, which he claimed was there to keep Charlton's leadership in the party in-check. While some like George R. J. Williams and Oswald Charlton rejected the idea of a paramilitia, Wright was allowed to form it.
