Riri Aslan, a member of Tenis Club Roman Bucharest, who worked as an engineer for the company, learned that its director, Bobby Tucker, had played the sport in his youth. As there were issues within Tenis Club, Aslan asked him to create a company club for advertising purposes. Tucker agreed and sought to recruit the best players in the country to play for Telefon Club.
