Shamus Quinn was a man who made his life by hunting for scrap metal and was even paid for some of it. At some point, he became interested in purchasing a helo that Petty Officer First Class Josie Sparks and Lieutenant Hank Joplin were planning on selling but the plan went wrong when Lieutenant Commander Oliver Happ intervened to stop the sale from going ahead. As such, Quinn shot Happ dead and later forced Sparks and Joplin presumably at gunpoint to get into a rescue raft before sending it out to sea.
