The East Lawrencetown Fire Department was formed in the mid-1960s. Its first fire station was built in 1967, and a used truck obtained from the Waverley Volunteer Fire Department that same year. It isn't known when the name was changed to Lawrencetown Beach. In 1996, Lawrencetown Beach and the other fire departments of Halifax County were amalgamated to form the Halifax Regional Fire and Emergency Service.
