The Seal of San Francisco was the coat of arms of the city of San Francisco. On the seal, there was a miner and a sailor standing on either side of the shield, with a phoenix above the shield. In the early 21st century, this seal was incorporated into the seal for Sanctuary District A and was positioned in front of a bird. (DS9: "Past Tense, Part I", "Past Tense, Part II")
