Susan Saunders (born 1945) wrote Dorothy and the Magic Belt (1985). Saunders is a veteran children's book author, with a long list of titles to her credit, like the All American Puppies series and the Black Cat Club books. She has written biographies of Margaret Mead and Dolly Parton for children, in the Women of Our Time series.
