Arkose is a sedimentary rock. It contains approximately 25% feldspar, but quartz minerals are dominant. Mica is also found in this, but in small concentrations. It may also contain some calcite cement, which can cause this type of sandstone to "fizz" when exposed to dilute hydrochloric acid.
