The iguana monsters were creatures native to Isla Sirena. Jack Sparrow fought the beasts in order to retrieve the stone of Stone-Eyed Sam. He had the magical Sword of Cortés with him but since he was in Davy Jones' Locker the weapon did not have power so he had to use it as a normal sword. He ended up winning the battle and walking away with his prize.
