Batgirl investigates some kidnappings which indicate a possible slave trade, despite being ordered by Batman to come back to the Clock Tower. She catches up with the kidnappees, but in doing she interrupts an investigation Batman and Robin had been carrying it out, setting the end of the kidnapping ring back several months. Batman tells her he has no choice but to retire her as Batgirl.
