Since 1974, the track's signature race is the annual Turkey Derby held on Thanksgiving weekend. The race format has changed over the years, from three 50-lap features, with the best average finish in the three races winning, to the present format of two races; the first is a 100-lap feature for the SK Modified cars, an entry-level form of the car initiated by Jack Arute, Sr., at Stafford Motor Speedway. The second is another 100-lap feature for Tour-type Modifieds, for cars similar to those used in the two NASCAR Whelen Modified Tours. The end-of-season races for most classes running at Wall also take place at Turkey Derby weekend, and sometimes Sprint Cup superstars will race in the event.
