As of 2611, there are seven settled asteroids in the Dorados: * Ayacucho * Mapire (capital) It is thought that the Dorados ring is the remains of a collision between a small planet and a large interstellar asteroid. (tNA:13) There are 387 major asteroids in the Dorados, of which more than 250 being roughly spherical.They consist of nearly pure metal, solar wind having abraded their surfaces to a glossy shine. (tNA:13) This high mineral content makes them extremely valuable as a supply of raw material for almost immediate industrial use, elliminating the need for most refining operations.
