On July 29, 2009, the Japanese Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications (MIC) established the Smart Cloud Study Group to carry out a comprehensive study of the various challenges facing the development of cloud computing technology, as well as clarifying next generation cloud technology trends. On March 17, 2010, the group issued its final report — Smart Cloud Study Group Final Report — Smart Cloud Strategy.
