Early trailers show enemies that were not used in the game, like blue Koopa Troopa and Rock Spike. Because of the blue Koopa Troopa, it is thought that Shell Mario was going to be easier to get in the game. Another early trailer shows a red Buzzy Beetle with black spots. It's name was never really announced, but we are assuming they are Lady Beetles. Concept art shows that Birdo was going to appear as a ridable character. However, she was used as a boss instead.
