In 2370, the Ayers was destroyed during an engagement with several Romulan warbirds during the Romulan incursion. Having encountered and destroyed several Warbirds which were not using their cloaking devices (and under-armed), in the Beremar system contact was lost. The USS Enterprise-D was sent by Outpost 543 to investigate only to find debris and radiation of the ship, destroyed by the Cionex. (TNG video game: A Final Unity)
