Ishikawa Goemon appears as a Great Spy in Civilization IV. Common folklore describes him as a Japanese "Robin Hood," stealing from the rich to give to the poor. Historically he is known for his attempted assassination of Toyotomi Hideyoshi, for which he was boiled alive in public.
