The Imperial Department of Exolinguistics was a department of the Republic and the Empire dealing with languages. This department has estimated the number of languages in the known galaxy to be a minimum of 10,000,000 and the number of language families to be around 1,428, the IGLBS and the IGPA were subdivisions of this Department.
