The Building Architect Tool is used by many custom content creators around almost all of the SimCity 4 fansites. With this, the users that use this tool can create models and insert them into their "Plugins" folder where they appear in game if placed correctly. It was added to SimCity 2000 under the name of Building Renewal Kit, which is considered to be the first SimCity expansion pack. It was renamed to Building Architect Tool during SimCity 3000's era and was a free downloadable from the SimCity website and was included with the game and the Scenario Editor in SimCity 3000 Unlimited.
