Hida Masao was a bushi of the Crab Clan. In 967 during a scouting mission in the Shadowlands his boat was turned in the River of the Dark Moon, and several of his companions were attacked by spawns of Tobehifu no Oni. Hida Tetsu-Kintama killed the oni suffering grievous wounds, including scars containing oni egg-like nugget.
