Edward Snowdon (1901-63) was a Labour Party politician active in the Bermondsey area. He was appointed to fill a war time vacancy in the representation of Bermondsey Weston the London County Council on 10 October 1944. When elections resumed in 1946 he held the seat. Electoral boundaries were changed at the next county council election in 1949 and Snowdon did not stand. A member of Bermondsey Borough Council, he was Mayor of Bermondsey 1949-50. An photograph of him as mayor, with a robot, can be seen here. [1] The Shah of Persia visited the borough during his term of office - mentioned here [2]
