The 79th Battalion, CEF was a unit in the Canadian Expeditionary Force during the First World War. Based in Brandon, Manitoba, the unit began recruiting in the summer of 1915 throughout the province of Manitoba. After sailing to England in June 1916, the battalion was absorbed into the 17th Reserve Battalion on July 12, 1916. The 79th Battalion, CEF had one Officer Commanding: Lieut-Col. G. Clingan. The 79th Battalion is perpetuated by the 26th Field Artillery Regiment, Royal Canadian Artillery.
