Town earned a hard-fought third-round FA Cup replay against Premiership opposition Southampton with a 1-1 draw at St Mary's. Darren Ambrose on his first start this season gave Town the lead after 19 minutes with a magnificent header from Tyrone Mings run and cross. Southampton were soon level after Schneiderlin capitailised on hesitation between Christophe Berra and Dean Gerken to loop the ball into the net. Southampton bossed possession and dictated play in the second half, but Town dug deep to preserve their FA Cup status.
