The Chicago 7, or 'Chicago Seven' were Abbie Hoffman, Jerry Rubin, David Dellinger, Rennie Davis, John Froines, Lee Weiner and Tom Hayden. They were tried for various offences arising from the 1968 Democratic National Convention protests. Originally the Chicago 8, they also included Black Panther Party member Bobby Seale. When Seale misbehaved in court during the trial, Judge Julius Hoffman separated him from the proceedings, leaving just seven defendants.
