Bertie (Benny) Cohen (1906-73) was a taxi driver and local politician. Born in Whitechapel, he was the daughter of Harris Cohen and Rose née Zeffert. He became a member of Hackney Borough Council as a councillor and then an alderman. He served as Mayor of Hackney in 1957-58.
