Bhakti Thapa (born in Lamjung, Nepal) is a National hero of Nepal. Bhakti Thapa was the Pawar Thapa (Godar Thapa) who had fought against Gorkhali in the battle from the side of Kehari Narayan, the King of Lumjung but later he joined the Gorkhali force. Just two years after the unification of Jumla he was made the supreme commander (Sardar) of the whole Nepalese army stationed to the west of the capital in a vast region that stretched almost up to the Sutlez river (now India), and also administrator of this vast region. Sardar Bhakti Thapa’s great success in unification of Jumla made him a legendary figure. Sardar Bhakti Thapa was a patriot involved in the Anglo-Nepalese War. His most important contribution in the war was at the western front of Deothal.
