The Class-O7 Nonlinear Radiation Weapon, or OMEGA-Type Energy Cannons, are ship-mounted weapons designated as WMDs (Weapons of Mass Destruction). They are too large to be mounted on anything the size of a cruiser and the power they require is so great, they need their own power cores. Usually mounted on dreadnoughts or mobile stations, OMEGA Cannons fire large bolts of radioactive energy. The slugs that the weapon fires are pure-energy wrapped in a powerful mass effect envelope. Though not as powerful as an atomic weapon, the blast from the projectile is great enough to annihilate a few city blocks and render an entire small city uninhabitable due to radioactive fallout. The weapon is considered extremely costly and immoral so only a few dozen exist as last resort techniques.
