The Wife of Xav Vorbarra was a citizen of Beta Colony, who Prince Xav Vorbarra married during his tenure there as Barrayar's ambassador. She was a member of the Betan Bureau for Interstellar Trade. She was the mother of Olivia Vorbarra Vorkosigan, Sonia Vorbarra Vorpatril, and a son. Thus, she was the grandmother of Aral Vorkosigan and his siblings, and also of Padma Xav Vorpatril. She never became used to Barrayaran life, though she and her husband survived after Mad Yuri's Massacre and the subsequent Civil War. Aral vacationed with his grandfather and grandmother during his school breaks.
