Cliegg Lars's father was a moisture farmer on Tatooine, as well as the father of Lee Lars and Cliegg Lars. When Cliegg decided to join the Republic Judicial Forces, the military branch of the Galactic Republic, Lars opposed the decision because he felt his family should not have been involved with a government that was so far away from Tatooine.
