The Bombardment of Falleen, which took place in 7 BBY, was undertaken by the Galactic Empire as part of the Empire's testing of the flesh bacterium purposely released on the planet. In 17 BBY, Darth Vader had established a special bacterological research outpost on the world in order to test new biological weapons projects for the Galactic Empire. In 8 BBY, a flesh bacterium had been developed by the Imperials, and the following year, Vader ordered for the bacterium to be released on the world. Some 500 million Falleen were infected and died. The Empire then quaratined the world and bombarded it, as a "measure of extermination". The bombardment left Falleen a wasteland and killed nearly 900 million further Falleen.
