Mihal was the king of Zalezna. When Mihal was a child, his brother Lycon and he witnessed their uncle Kalem kill King Loran. After fleeing from their uncle and his man they were saved by the Eighth Doctor, who used his sonic screwdriver to disarm the soldiers. Mihal was then made king of Zalezna. Mihal was unsure about ruling, however, so the Doctor told him stories to build up his confidence.
