Dobutamine is a pharmaceutical that affects the sympathetic nervous system. It is used to treat heart failure and cardiogenic shock. It is generally only used during surgery and in emergency medicine. The side effects are severe and include high blood pressure, angina, arrhythmia and tachycardia.
