The President of Jill leads the executive branch of the Government of Jill. The president holds the power to veto laws passed through the legislative branch (the Lower House and Upper House), appoints heads of departments, the military and, in cooperation with the legislature, judges and members of the Supreme Court. The president is elected directly by the people in national elections held every five years.
