The Ranger-class was a type of explorer fielded by the Federation Starfleet during the 23rd century. The Rangers spaceframe was designed by Mark Chausser and unlike the previous explorer design, the Daedalus-class, the Rangers primary hull was saucer shaped rather than a sphere. The saucer was connected to its engineering hull by a short interhull. The ship's nacelles were connected to the ventral side of the saucer by pylons that projected slightly ventrally.
