A sh'uk was a needle-shaped tool used on Trill as a means of quick and relatively painless execution for those convicted of capital crimes. When capital punishment was phased out of Trill society in the early 21st century, these tools fell out of use. In 2285, a sh'uk was used by Joran Dax to commit three murders, a deliberate choice to distract from the emotional nature of his crimes.
