The 1961 Richmond 200 was a Grand National (now Nextel Cup) event held at Richmond International Raceway on April 23, 1961. Richard Petty dominated the race. He would lead 182 of the 200 laps and hold off Cotton Owens by more than a lap for the victory. Eventual season champ Ned Jarrett finished 4th in the twelve-car field, the smallest in NASCAR history.
