OS X Yosemite (version 10.10) is the eleventh major release of OS X, Apple Inc's desktop and server operating system for Macintosh computers. OS X Yosemite was announced on June 2, 2014, at WWDC 2014, and was released to the public on October 16, 2014, as a free update through the Mac App Store. With this release of OS X, Apple also instituted a public beta program by sign-up, seeded in the summer of 2014.
