Herbert J. McChrystal (born May 30, 1924) was a Major General in the United States Army and the father of U.S. Army General Stanley A. McChrystal and U.S. Army Chaplain Colonel Scott McChrystal. McChrystal was born in the Panama Canal Zone where his father, Herbert J. McChrystal Sr. was stationed with the United States military and Hazel Marion Vosper. He was married to the late Mary Gardner Bright and had 6 children.
