Nyanni was a Ryn Jedi Padawan during the Yuuzhan Vong War. She was rescued during the Battle of Duro by the Jedi Knight Bryn Fulcron, whom she was apprenticed to. Although she was five years his senior, she learned much from him, and the two became a deadly combination to the Yuuzhan Vong. Months later, while the two were reconning Eos, a planet on the Outer Rim, they were ambushed by a squadron of Yuuzhan Vong and their Voxyn beasts. In a panic, Nyanni threw her master onto his ship, and used the Force to pilot it away. She sacrificed herself for her master, who, from that moment on, became much more involved in the war.
