David Cargill appeared in Coronation Street in December 1970 as U.S. Army Sergant Mario Ucello. He also appeared in Armchair Theatre, The Avengers, The Midnight Men, The Wednesday Play, The Forsyte Saga, Man in a Suitcase, Out of the Unknown, UFO, The Persuaders! and Carrie's War. Film roles include Information Received, Information Received and Baxter! On radio, he was heard in the 1963 Third Programme production of Red Eye of Love.
