Princess Shayla and Merrick would perform the song every morning for the Deer Zord in order to keep him content should the need for his powers ever be needed. When the war against the Orgs broke out 3000 years ago, they suddenly stopped playing for the Deer and he didn't know why. In the episode "Sing Song," the Deer Zord returned but still had a grudge toward Merrick and Princess Shayla for abandoning him. After they played the song for him one more time, the Deer assisted the Rangers in defeating Tombstone Org. The morning ritual continued from that day on.
