Braxton Holt, the new captain of the Imperial Star Destroyer Thunderchild, was in the Imperial Palace on Coruscant with Emperor Palpatine and Darth Vader. The Emperor gave Captain Holt his first assignment--hunting down Rebels in the Vago star system. The Thunderchild was equipped with 20 escape pods, only enough for half the crew aboard. The Emperor and Vader saw Captain Holt off on his maiden voyage. As the Thunderchild approached the Vago star system, she ran into an icy nebula and it caused a reactor breach which could not be contained. Captain Holt ordered the 20 escape pods to be launched, knowing that there were not enough to save everyone on board.
