Systematic Paleontology Cephalopoda,Ammonoidea Order: Goniatitida Suborder Tornoceratina Superfamily: Prionocerataceae Family: Acrocanitidae The Acrocanitidae is one of seven families that make up the Prionocerataceae, a superfamily within the Goniatitida that lived during the Carboniferous. Shells are lenticular, evolute to almost involute. Suture lines are multilobate with the number of lateral lobes increasing during growth. Two genera are included, Acrocanites and Jdaidites.
