Rovers' first ever competitive match against Morecambe ended in an entertaining 3–2 victory in a game that saw the lead twice change hands after The Pirates went ahead in the first half. Cian Bolger's first goal for The Gas was the difference between the two sides at the break, but Jason Price and Kevin Ellison turned the game around in the second half to give Morecambe a 2–1 lead after 63 minutes. Their advantage lasted just 106 seconds however, Scott McGleish equalising in the 65th minute, before Joe Anyinsah's first Rovers goal took all three points.
