The Standardized Practical Assessment of Wizarding kNowledge, or S.P.A.W.N., is an examination of magical knowledge administered in the American Wizarding Confederation. It is the standard placement test used by the Charmbridge Academy to determine in which class levels to place Muggle-born students. The test is administered at Charmbridge by Mrs. Middle. The Sixth Grade placement exam is composed of four sections: "Magical Theory," "Alchemy and Herbology," "Arithnomancy and Geomancy," and "Wizard History."
