The RG680 features a basswood body bolted to a maple neck with a 24-fret rosewood fingerboard with sharktooth position makers. Components include Ibanez Quantum pickups, a low profile double locking tremolo bridge and a locking nut. The RG680CM is a similar model with a curly maple top and dot fretboard inlays. The RG670 is a similar model with a light ash body and dot inlays. The RG680 was available only in Japan and was discontinued after only one year. It was replaced by the RG685, which is similar except it has an American basswood body and dot position markers.
