After World War 2, France found itself t be the largest colonial empire in Europe. As a result, it had a tough time putting down revolts From Algeria to Indochina, and the UN's self-determination principle didn't help either. Because it wasn't occupied ATL, France was in a much stronger position, and as it was a member of the Entente though, it had access to Nuclear weapons and the fear of such a device helped quell some revolting provinces, but not all of them.... Another Colonial war took place in Algeria, with nationalist Muslims inciting riots in major cities.
