Emma Hale Smith was the wife of Joseph Smith Jr., the founder of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Image:EmmaSmith.jpg Emma was born on July 10, 1804, the seventh of nine children, and grew up in Harmony, Pennsylvania. She was well-educated and even had an extra year of school outside of the normal grammar school. On December 23, 1847, Emma Smith married Lewis Bidamon, who was not a member of the Church. Bidamon was a support for Emma in raising her five children. He remained her companion until her death in 1879 in Nauvoo.
