Hugh F Sutherland (July 1903 - 12 November 1962) was a Scottish-born journalist and Labour Party politician. Educated at Glasgow and Oxford Universities, he worked as a lecturer at Queen's University, Kingston, Ontario, 1928-31 before becoming a Fleet Street journalist. During the Second World War he was a public relations officer for GHQ Middle East Forces. From 1948-50 he worked for the Foreign Office. He twice stood for parliament: or the Cities of London and Westminster at the 1951 General Election and at Caithness and Sutherland in 1955. Some further detail here [1].
